Pearl Fryar's Topiary Garden

My parents came in to town this weekend and it seems like my dad has been wanting to check out Pearl Fryar’s garden for like EVER.  My dad 1st heard about Pearl's gardens on the Discovery Channel.

My Parents

Pearl  designs and sculptures trees .  He lives about an hour and a half from Charlotte, NC; in Bishopville, SC.  On Saturday we ventured out to visit Pearl and his topiary gardens.

The Gardens

We spoke with him briefly and he mentioned that he knew nothing about horticulture and taught himself as he went along.  He stated , “I wouldn’t have been so successful if I had all the knowledge because everyone kept telling me you can’t do this or that.”  His advice…if you truly have a passion for something it will blossom but it takes patience and a LOT of patience.

Come Tour My Studio With Me…

Over spring break, I took some time to paint and reorganize my studio.  It took me awhile to actually select the color so that sorta held up the project for a few weeks.  I wanted a color that would tap into my creative energy.  I looked at all sorts of greens and blues but just couldn’t decide on whether I wanted to go with green or blue walls.  Then, I got to thinking about my astrological sign.  Well, I’m a crab and crabs natural habitat is water (blue) so there you have it...I went with this shade of blue.

The color is called “Watery”

It's perfect for me!

After we finished painting my studio I made a trip to Ikea for some new furniture.  My studio is not
very large so I wanted to make the most out of the space.

I purchased a few different size tables, like the one below, and connected them all together to go around the perimeter of the studio.

Next, I found this awesome 9 drawer cabinet for all my beads and components.
One didn’t hold everything so I had to go back and get another.  Jeez.  Two did the job!

As I organized the room I created little work stations, an area for my computer, my photo booth, my metal workbench and other beading spaces.

Here my computer station…

My metal workbench...

And, over here is my photo booth...

And, then a few other areas to bead…but those pictures did not come out very well.

Thank you for joining me...Have a great week!
